Beautify your bathroom with one of these unique 3D printed designer soap dishes. It’s probably the easiest 3D print in the world. Choose from four elegant and timeless designs, start your 3D print, and score a stylish bathroom. They also make a perfect gift, showing off everything you can create with your 3D printer.
Depending on the filament you choose, you’ll determine the right color for the soap dish. For the finished DIY soap dishes shown here, I chose stylish matte filaments. All the filaments used are linked in the 3D printing instructions below.

3D printed parts

These are purely digital products, you get all the files you need to print the parts yourself in a ZIP folder. It contains the STL files for all required components and variants, as well as additional accessories.

The 3D printed soap dishes measure approximately 100 x 75 x 18 mm (X, Y, Z). To avoid using support material, the soap dishes are oriented so that the widest side grows vertically on the 3D printer. This way, a soap dish only requires a footprint (X, Y) of 100 x 18 mm, and when oriented like this, the soap dish is 75 mm tall (Z). Therefore, any standard 3D printer with a minimum build volume of 100 x 100 x 100 mm is suitable for this project and can even print several soap dishes at once.
3D print settings
The soap dishes shown here were printed with the following parameters:
- Layer height 0.2 mm and 20% infill (rectangular)
Used 3D printing filament and 3D printer
The soap dishes shown in this guide were printed on a Prusa i3 MK3s* with a standard 0.4 mm nozzle using the following filaments:
Blue soap dishes with PolyTerra PLA Sapphire Blue*
- Sand-colored soap holders with PolyTerra PLA Wood Brown*
- Matte black soap dishes with 3DJake ecoPLA Matt Black (unfortunately no longer available) alternatively ELEGOO Matte PLA Black*
With the selected settings, each soap dish will use approximately 50 g of filament for 3D printing. At a price of 20 EUR per kilogram, that comes to 1 EUR in material costs for one 3D-printed soap holder.
The printing time for a soap dish is about 3 h 30 min (Prusa MK3S). With new, faster 3D printers that use input shaping, e.g., Bambulab X1C or P2S, the printing time is only 1 h 30 min.
Bill of materials
Besides filament and a 3D printer, you won’t need anything else, except for the soap, of course ;). If you like the soaps shown in the photos, here are the links for them. They’re really classy and perfect for gifting.

Instructions: How to 3D print the Soap Dishes
It’s incredibly simple: just load the 3D model of the soap dish into the slicer and send it to your 3D printer. By printing the soap dish vertically, no support structures are needed. The profile of the soap dish is also designed to be wide enough that it should adhere well to your 3D printer’s build plate and print easily without any additional brims or aids.

These instructions are only intended for persons of legal age (over 18 years old). If you lack knowledge in handling the tools or processes that occur, then it is essential to seek the help of trained persons. The preparation and assembly of the project is at your own risk.
3D printing of the parts
3D printing is incredibly simple. The STL files are already correctly oriented and just need to be placed on the build plate in the slicer. The following image shows all the included 3D printable models arranged on the build plate of a Prusa i3 MK3S.

Of course, the 3D printed soap dishes can be printed in any color and with any material, for example, with recycled PETG. Below are printed soap holders made of PLA plastic in the following colors: Matte Black, Blue, and Sand.
